Role: Legal Counsel

A renowned proprietary trading firm with a focus on algorithmic and high-frequency trading strategies, is seeking an experienced legal counsel to serve the legal needs of their Dutch, US and Singapore branches. You will work actively with business units across the firm to advise on a broad range of legal issues, focusing on in-region legal matters. It is an extremely business critical role as you will be the face of all legal obligations for the entity across the Netherlands.
The Candidate
- Qualified Dutch lawyer
- At least 5 years of legal experience post qualification
- Experience practicing in Europe is a strong advantage
- Fluency in a European language is a strong advantage
- Experience in Dutch or European employment law highly desired
- Working understanding and background in Dutch law
- Eagerness to contribute as an active and vital member of a dynamic global team
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
The Role
- Serve as a legal advisor on a wide variety of business initiatives and transactions with a focus on the Dutch and European region
- Review and negotiate a wide range of contracts, including technology contracts, commercial contracts, leases, trading-related agreements, and other vendor agreements
- Advise on employment related matters, including recruitment, performance management, terminations, restrictive covenants and data privacy, with a focus on Dutch and European law
- Manage outside counsel on various matters
- Participate in the development and implementation of corporate policies, procedures, and programs
- Assist in managing the corporate governance of their European, APAC and US legal entities, including intercompany agreements
- Stay apprised of and advise the management team on changes in in-region laws, rules and regulations affecting the firm
