AVP - Energy Underwriter

About the Role
My client is seeking an experienced Environmental Underwriter to join their growing team in San Francisco. This is a key role for someone who is passionate about underwriting and eager to help build a specialized practice within a dynamic MGU environment.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite property and casualty risks with a focus on environmental exposures
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers and distribution partners in the renewable, alternative, and conventional power space
• Manage a desk that includes both new business and renewals, ensuring profitability and growth
• Collaborate with internal teams and participate in marketing efforts, including travel for client visits and industry events
• Contribute to the development of underwriting strategies and guidelines
• Demonstrate leadership potential with aspirations to mentor and eventually lead additional underwriters

Qualifications

• Proven property and/or casualty underwriting experience
• Familiarity with renewable power, alternative energy, and conventional power sectors
• Established network of brokers and distribution partners within the environmental space
• Strong communication and negotiation skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Willingness to travel for marketing and client engagement
• Personal drive and enthusiasm for building and growing a practice
• Leadership experience or aspirations to lead a team in the future is a plus
