About the Role
My client is seeking an experienced Environmental Underwriter to join their growing team in San Francisco. This is a key role for someone who is passionate about underwriting and eager to help build a specialized practice within a dynamic MGU environment.
Responsibilities
- Underwrite property and casualty risks with a focus on environmental exposures
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers and distribution partners in the renewable, alternative, and conventional power space
- Manage a desk that includes both new business and renewals, ensuring profitability and growth
- Collaborate with internal teams and participate in marketing efforts, including travel for client visits and industry events
- Contribute to the development of underwriting strategies and guidelines
- Demonstrate leadership potential with aspirations to mentor and eventually lead additional underwriters
Qualifications
- Proven property and/or casualty underwriting experience
- Familiarity with renewable power, alternative energy, and conventional power sectors
- Established network of brokers and distribution partners within the environmental space
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to travel for marketing and client engagement
- Personal drive and enthusiasm for building and growing a practice
- Leadership experience or aspirations to lead a team in the future is a plus
