Overview:

A consulting firm specializing in actuarial services is seeking an experienced Senior Pension Consultant. The firm provides consulting for defined benefit pension and health plans, with a focus on quality, timeliness, and personalized service. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional looking to manage high-impact client projects in a dynamic and collaborative environment.

Position Summary:

This role involves overseeing client deliverables, ensuring technical accuracy, supporting internal process improvements, and contributing to business development. You'll interact directly with clients and collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide expert pension consulting services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage pension-related projects with attention to accuracy and deadlines

  • Coordinate internal workflows and ensure timely delivery of client work

  • Conduct detailed technical reviews for compliance and precision

  • Prepare client reports, valuations, and proposals with a high standard of quality

  • Provide insights on complex plan topics and advise clients accordingly

  • Participate in meetings and maintain strong client relationships

  • Work with firm leadership to enhance internal systems and processes

Technical Focus Areas:

  • Prepare/review actuarial valuations for defined benefit pension plans

  • Handle government filings, participant statements, and regulatory compliance tasks

  • Conduct complex benefit calculations (e.g., RMDs, QDROs, late retirement)

  • Forecast plan funded status and model changes under federal regulations

  • Review plan documents, amendments, and summary descriptions

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 7 years' experience with multiemployer or defined benefit pension plans

  • Professional actuarial credentials (ASA, FSA, or EA)

  • Deep understanding of pension compliance and plan funding regulations

  • Strong organizational and communication skills

  • Experience managing cross-disciplinary teams and client communications

  • Self-starter comfortable working independently and in collaboration

  • Experience with actuarial software (ProVal preferred, not required)
