Overview: Our client, a highly reputable Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance carrier, is seeking an experienced and results-driven E&S Package Underwriter to join their team. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in underwriting excess and surplus (E&S) lines, specifically focusing on General Liability (GL), Umbrella/Excess, and Property insurance. This is an excellent opportunity to join a leading insurer known for its dynamic and innovative approach to the E&S market.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Underwrite E&S package business, including General Liability (GL), Umbrella/Excess, and Property, in alignment with underwriting guidelines and company standards.

  • Analyze risk exposures, coverage needs, and loss histories to determine appropriate pricing, terms, and conditions for new and renewal business.

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers and agents to grow and maintain a profitable book of business.

  • Review and assess submissions, working with brokers to negotiate terms and finalize policy wording.

  • Collaborate with internal teams, including actuarial, claims, and risk management, to evaluate and address potential risks and ensure underwriting decisions align with company goals.

  • Ensure timely and accurate documentation of underwriting decisions and maintain a high level of organization in managing accounts.

  • Monitor portfolio performance, identify trends, and make recommendations to mitigate risks or enhance profitability.

  • Stay up to date with industry trends, regulatory changes, and competitive developments to maintain a competitive edge in the marketplace.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in underwriting E&S package business, with a strong focus on General Liability (GL), Umbrella/Excess, and Property.

  • In-depth knowledge of E&S underwriting practices, risk analysis, and pricing techniques.

  • Strong ability to assess complex risk exposures and craft appropriate coverage solutions.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.

  • Ability to work independently while being a collaborative team player.

  • Proficiency with underwriting software and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • A strong understanding of regulatory requirements and market trends in the P&C insurance industry.

  • A designation such as CPCU, AINS, or other industry-related certifications is a plus.
