Catastrophe Analyst
Selby Jennings is proud to partner with a leading insurance provider to hire a Catastrophe Risk Analyst for their growing Catastrophe team. This is a rare and exciting opportunity to work across multiple lines of business, with a particular focus on the Property team. In this role, you'll expand your technical expertise, deepen your industry knowledge, and collaborate closely with brokers, model evaluation specialists, and other key stakeholders. You'll be at the forefront of catastrophe modelling, contributing to a well-resourced, forward-thinking team.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead discussions with reinsurers, brokers, and actuaries, clearly communicating catastrophe model results and limitations.
- Act as the lead analyst on reinsurance placements and projects, advising clients on key topics such as risk views, climate change, inflation, and event response.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with brokers and model evaluation specialists.
- Contribute to the development and enhancement of proprietary analytical tools and support the evaluation of catastrophe models such as RMS, Verisk, and JBA.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in catastrophe analytics (within a broking house, insurer, reinsurer, or similar financial services environment).
- MSc or higher in Finance, Statistics, Science, or a related field; BSc in Geography, Environmental Science, or Risk.
- Proficiency in SQL, R, or Python, with hands-on experience using vendor models like RMS, Verisk, or JBA.
- Experience in catastrophe model validation and evaluation.
- Strong interpersonal, analytical, and critical thinking skills, with the ability to interpret complex statistical data.
