A prominent financial organisation is appointing a Director, Credit Risk to take a leading role in the oversight of complex credit exposures, with particular strength in structured and leveraged finance. This senior position sits at the centre of credit decision-making, portfolio stewardship, and risk strategy. The role offers broad exposure to senior forums, regulatory initiatives, and high‑profile transactions across multiple asset classes.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide senior credit risk oversight across structured and leveraged finance, corporate lending, and financial institutions, delivering independent risk opinions and approving transactions within delegated authority.
- Challenge deal structures, covenant packages, security arrangements, documentation, and financial assumptions, while monitoring portfolio trends, concentrations, and emerging risks.
- Represent Credit Risk in senior governance forums and communicate complex risk topics clearly to executive management and Board audiences.
- Contribute to the development and calibration of the firm's credit risk appetite and advise business leadership on market developments and growth initiatives.
- Act as deputy to the Head of Credit with full accountability during absences, while mentoring and developing credit professionals.
- Lead or support regulatory, capital, stress testing, resolution planning, model governance, policy, and audit-related initiatives to strengthen credit risk frameworks and governance.
Key Requirements
- Extensive experience (typically 10+ years) in senior credit risk roles with deep expertise in leveraged and structured finance, complemented by corporate credit and financial institutions exposure.
- Proven track record of holding credit approval authority and exercising sound judgement on complex transactions.
- Strong understanding of sophisticated financing structures, credit documentation, financial modelling, and relevant regulatory and accounting frameworks.
- Confident operating at executive and Board level, with credible communication skills and experience leading cross-functional initiatives.
- Degree in a relevant discipline; postgraduate education or professional qualifications (e.g. CFA, FRM, ACA, MBA) are advantageous, alongside strong awareness of European and UK regulatory environments.
