Title: Vice President, Casualty Claims
Location: Hybrid - Multiple Locations: Atlanta, O'Fallon, Chicago, New York City or New Jersey
Position Overview:
One of the top tier insurance carriers is looking to bring on an experienced Vice President, Casualty Claims to their team. This role will be responsible for overseeing & managing the casualty claims department strategy while driving profitability in a strategic function. The ideal candidate will have managed managers with extensive general liability and commercial claims experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of claims leaders, driving performance, talent development, and long‑term team capability in alignment with organizational goals.
- Serve as the senior technical resource on high‑exposure and complex liability matters, setting coverage strategies, guiding file direction, and ensuring disciplined reserving practices.
- Collaborate closely with underwriting, actuarial, legal, risk, and external partners to maintain strong alignment, share insights, and support consistent claims execution across the enterprise.
- Oversee core operational initiatives including litigation readiness reviews, annual planning and budgeting, staff training, and process‑improvement projects focused on quality outcomes and cost management.
- Provide clear, proactive communication to senior leaders and stakeholders through well‑developed written and verbal updates, including evaluations, recommendations, and strategic insights.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Insurance, or related field.
- 10+ years of experience handling commercial claims.
- 8+ years in claims supervisory position.
- JD preferred but not required.
