Sr Insurance Accountant
Our client, a fast growing P&C Insurer, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Insurance Accountant to join our growing finance team. This role is responsible for supporting the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of financial reporting across the organization. The ideal candidate will bring deep experience in U.S. GAAP, Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP), and Yellow Book reporting, along with a strong understanding of insurance industry financials.
This position plays a key role in month‑end close, financial statement preparation, regulatory filings, and continuous improvement of accounting processes and controls.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including preparation and review of complex journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Prepare, analyze, and review GAAP and statutory (SAP) financial statements.
- Support the preparation of Yellow Book financial statements and related disclosures.
- Investigate variances and contribute to timely financial analysis for management and FP&A.
- Maintain accurate general ledger activity and ensure compliance with internal controls.
- Assist with internal and external audits by preparing schedules and supporting documentation.
- Prepare required statutory filings, regulatory reports, and supplemental schedules.
Experience
- 4+ years of progressive accounting experience in the insurance industry (property & casualty, life, or health).
- Direct experience with U.S. GAAP, Statutory Accounting Principles, and Yellow Book reporting required.
- Experience preparing statutory filings and working with NAIC standards strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of reinsurance accounting, premium and claims accounting, and/or investment accounting is a plus.
