Manager - Actuary
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and maintenance of workers' compensation pricing models and reserving methodologies.
- Manage and mentor a team of actuarial analysts, fostering professional growth and technical excellence.
- Conduct quarterly reserve analyses and present findings to senior leadership and regulatory bodies.
- Collaborate with underwriting, claims, finance, and data science teams to support business strategy and profitability.
- Monitor industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging risks in the workers' compensation space.
- Ensure compliance with actuarial standards of practice and regulatory requirements.
- Support the preparation of actuarial opinions, rate filings, and financial reporting.
- Drive automation and modernization of actuarial tools and processes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
- ACAS or FCAS designation required.
- Minimum 6-8 years of actuarial experience, with at least 3 years focused on workers' compensation.
- Prior leadership or management experience preferred.
- Strong proficiency in actuarial software (e.g., SQL, R, Python, Excel, VBA).
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a hybrid or remote team environment.
Preferred Attributes:
- Experience with Midwest insurance markets or regional carriers.
- Familiarity with predictive modeling and machine learning applications in insurance.
- Strategic thinker with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
