Quantitative Analyst - Power and Gas
We are working with a industry leading energy trading firm based in Houston that is looking to add their first quant to their power and gas structuring and valuation desk as they expand the scope of their business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and enhance valuation models for sophisticated energy trades
- Collaborate with traders to ensure model assumptions are sound and relevant
- Assess model limitations and associated risks
- Interpret and communicate model results with clarity and insight
- Provide strategic input on trading approaches and asset optimization
- Contribute to trade idea generation and deal structuring
- Support origination efforts and investment evaluations
- Develop and maintain high-quality code for the team's pricing library
- Conduct market analysis to inform trading and investment decisions
- Create reports and visualization tools to support decision-making
Qualifications & Skills:
- 1-3 years of experience in a quantitative analyst role
- Advanced degree in a quantitative discipline
- Strong foundation in probability, statistics, stochastic calculus, option pricing, and numerical methods
- Proficient in programming, ideally with Python
- Familiarity with European energy markets
- Experience in modeling energy assets, including renewables and weather derivatives, is a plus
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities
- Capable of explaining complex mathematical concepts to diverse audiences
- Team-oriented with a proactive and self-motivated approach
