Overview

A growing specialty insurance organization is seeking a Staff Accountant to join its finance team. This position will support day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, account reconciliations, and month-end close activities while working closely with leadership and cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations and supporting schedules.
  • Support the preparation of financial statements and management reporting packages.
  • Process and reconcile cash transactions, accounts payable, and other general accounting activities.
  • Assist with premium, commission, and insurance-related accounting transactions as needed.
  • Support audit requests and prepare documentation for external auditors.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and assist with special projects.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 1-3+ years of accounting experience.
  • Strong understanding of general accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software applications.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.

Preferred

  • Insurance, financial services, or professional services experience.
  • Experience with month-end close and financial reporting.
  • CPA eligibility or progress toward certification.
  • Exposure to ERP systems and financial reporting tools.
