Senior Risk and Compliance Specialist - Commodities Trading
Join a leading global energy and commodities trading firm with a strong presence in North America. The company is actively involved in the transition to a low-carbon economy while maintaining a robust portfolio in traditional and renewable energy markets. This role supports a dynamic trading environment focused on power and natural gas.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with U.S. financial and physical trading regulations (CFTC, FERC, EIA, state commissions) and internal risk policies.
- Oversee accurate and timely regulatory reporting, including CFTC Level 2 swap reporting, and ensure data integrity across internal systems and external submissions.
- Investigate and resolve compliance issues, escalating breaches and anomalies to senior compliance and risk leadership.
- Collaborate with internal teams to enhance compliance frameworks, identify vulnerabilities, and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain thorough documentation for audits and regulatory reviews.
- Support global compliance efforts, including reporting under EMIR, REMIT, MIFID II, MAS, and ASIC.
- Educate trading and support teams on compliance protocols and evolving regulatory requirements.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field (required)
- Advanced degree or certifications in quantitative or financial disciplines (preferred)
- 3-7 years of experience in operational or market compliance, ideally within commodity trading
- Proven experience with U.S. swap reporting and commodity trading compliance
Skills & Attributes
- Strong communication and presentation skills across all organizational levels
- Ability to perform under pressure in volatile market conditions
- High attention to detail and analytical problem-solving capabilities
- Familiarity with legal documentation and its application to daily operations
- Proficiency in Excel, Power BI, and scripting tools (Python, Alteryx, etc.)
- Deep understanding of financial and risk management principles
