E&S Excess Casualty Underwriter
About the Role:
My client, a leading property & casualty carrier, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced E&S Excess Casualty Underwriter to support the strategic growth of their portfolio in Arizona. This is a key opportunity for an underwriting professional with strong broker relationships and deep knowledge of the E&S space to build and manage a profitable book of business.
Key Responsibilities:
Underwrite new and renewal business for Excess Casualty risks, including General Liability, Auto Liability, and Umbrella/Excess coverages.
Evaluate submissions, analyze exposures, and determine appropriate pricing, terms, and conditions.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with wholesale brokers, with a focus on driving new business opportunities in the Arizona market.
Manage a book of business in line with company guidelines, risk appetite, and profitability targets.
Collaborate with internal teams such as claims, actuarial, and loss control to ensure sound underwriting decisions.
Monitor market trends and competitor activity to identify growth opportunities and help shape strategy in the region.
Maintain thorough documentation and ensure compliance with underwriting authority and regulatory standards.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years of E&S underwriting experience in Excess Casualty lines.
Expertise in underwriting General Liability, Auto Liability, and Umbrella/Excess policies.
Established relationships with wholesale brokers; familiarity with the Arizona market is a strong plus.
Deep understanding of E&S underwriting principles, risk analysis, and coverage structures.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
Ability to work independently and make sound decisions within authority.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; industry designations (CPCU, ASLI, etc.) preferred.
