The Role
As Chief Credit Officer (CCO), you will be responsible for leading the company's credit strategy, overseeing risk management frameworks, and ensuring the integrity of the credit portfolio. You will play a key role in shaping credit policies, driving automation in credit decisioning, and collaborating with executive leadership to support sustainable growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the company's credit risk strategy and policies
- Lead the credit underwriting and portfolio management teams
- Oversee credit risk assessments for new and existing clients
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal risk standards
- Collaborate with product, data, and technology teams to enhance credit models and decisioning tools
- Present credit performance reports and risk insights to the executive board
- Manage relationships with external auditors, regulators, and rating agencies
Requirements
- Proven experience (10+ years) in credit risk management, preferably in banking, fintech, or asset-based lending
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing cross-functional teams
- Deep understanding of credit analytics, scoring models, and regulatory frameworks (e.g., Basel III, IFRS 9)
- Strategic thinker with the ability to balance risk and growth
- Excellent communication skills in German and English
- Degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration or related field; MBA or CFA is a plus
