A leading U.S.-based life insurance company with over 175 years of history is seeking an experienced actuary to join its Corporate Actuarial team. Position Summary:
The Actuary will lead the development and maintenance of actuarial models and data platforms that support financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and strategic initiatives for life insurance products. This role is instrumental in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of valuation processes and will collaborate closely with teams across Finance, Risk, Product Development, and IT. The position reports to the Senior Actuary of Corporate Actuarial.
Key Responsibilities:
Actuarial Model Development (40%)
Design, build, and implement advanced actuarial models to support new product launches, regulatory changes, and strategic business initiatives. Ensure models are robust, scalable, and aligned with corporate objectives.Operational Support & Governance (10%)
Provide technical support to valuation and modeling teams, including troubleshooting, regulatory reporting, and audit readiness. Maintain and enhance model governance and change management protocols.Valuation Oversight (10%)
Oversee the full lifecycle of valuation models, from development through deployment. Streamline modeling processes to improve consistency, automation, and efficiency.Strategic & Regulatory Initiatives (30%)
Serve as a key advisor on enterprise-wide actuarial initiatives. Translate long-term strategic goals into actionable plans and deliverables for the Corporate Actuarial function.Talent Development & Knowledge Sharing (10%)
Mentor team members and lead training sessions to build internal expertise in actuarial modeling tools and methodologies. Identify skill gaps and implement development plans.
Work Environment:
Hybrid work model with an expectation of three in-office days per week (currently Tuesday through Thursday). Flexibility is provided based on team needs and leadership discretion.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) with at least 8 years of actuarial experience in the life insurance industry.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in actuarial modeling, valuation, or financial reporting.
- Expertise in actuarial modeling software such as PolySystems, MG-ALFA, or GGY-AXIS.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a deep understanding of valuation methodologies and regulatory standards.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience in people or project management.
- Proficiency in data tools such as SQL, Databricks, and Microsoft Access.
- Familiarity with actuarial governance frameworks and model risk management.
- Demonstrated ability to foster collaboration and drive organizational alignment.
