Specialty Pricing Actuary

Selby Jennings have partnered with a unique (re)insurance business, currently seeking to expand their actuarial pricing team in Dublin.

They are seeking a Nearly or Newly Qualified Actuary (up to 2 years PQE) with 5+ years of experience to support pricing strategy across Specialty lines. This is a hands-on role that offers exposure to both individual deal pricing and broader portfolio analysis, working closely with underwriters and senior actuarial leadership.

The role will involve developing and delivering pricing tools, performing portfolio analysis, and generating KPIs to identify optimisation opportunities. You'll collaborate cross-functionally with underwriting, exposure management, and risk teams, contributing to strategic decision-making and pricing governance.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain pricing models for new and existing specialty product lines.
  • Analyse portfolio performance and identify areas for optimisation.
  • Partner with underwriters to deliver pricing recommendations and monitor performance.
  • Support exposure management and risk teams in assessing systemic risks.
  • Prepare presentations for senior stakeholders, including reinsurance partners and investors.
  • Contribute to horizon scanning and large-deal pricing reviews.

Role Requirements:

  • Nearly or Newly Qualified Actuary with 5+ years of experience in (re)insurance pricing.
  • Strong technical skills in pricing model development and portfolio analysis.
  • Proficiency in Excel (including stochastic modelling), SQL, Python, or R.
  • Experience with specialty lines and London Market or reinsurance pricing is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
  • A proactive, results-driven mindset with strong commercial awareness.
