An international investment bank is seeking a Senior Credit Officer (Vice President) to join its North American Credit Risk team, with a dedicated focus on Private Equity and Private Credit fund clients. This role offers direct exposure to top-tier financial sponsors and private capital managers, covering a broad range of investment strategies and complex financing structures. The successful candidate will manage their own portfolio of fund counterparties, approve structured transactions and derivatives exposures, and lead credit due diligence efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead credit due diligence for new fund clients, assessing strategy, risk management, and documentation to approve limits and structures.
  • Review and approve structured financing and derivatives transactions, including NAV loans, FX hedging, and deal-contingent trades.
  • Oversee legal documentation to ensure inclusion of key credit covenants and risk mitigants (e.g., ISDA, GMRA).
  • Monitor portfolio exposures and performance using internal systems and client data; approve margin levels and assess stress scenarios.
  • Maintain active engagement with fund managers and produce annual credit reviews highlighting strategy, liquidity, and key risks.
  • Stay current on market trends, regulatory developments, and asset class stress across private markets and hedge funds.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience managing credit risk for private equity and private credit funds, ideally within a bank or institutional investor.
  • Deep understanding of fund structures, strategies, LP agreements, valuation methodologies, and performance metrics.
  • Strong familiarity with derivatives and structured financing products, including NAV-based lending and contingent trades.
  • Working knowledge of ISDA, GMRA, and other master trading agreements, with emphasis on risk mitigation clauses.
  • Proven ability to assess complex counterparties and transactions, especially during periods of market volatility.
