About the Role
As a Senior Compliance Officer, you will play a pivotal role in strengthening the second line of defence within a global corporate services environment. Operating from Amsterdam, you will act as a key advisor on regulatory integrity, ensuring the business operates within the boundaries of applicable laws, internal frameworks, and evolving industry standards.
You will work closely with business teams, senior management, and global counterparts to oversee compliance risks, enhance internal control frameworks, and guide the organization through complex regulatory obligations.
This position is ideal for someone who brings deep subject‑matter expertise, a proactive mindset, and the confidence to influence stakeholders at all levels.
Key Responsibilities
Compliance Advisory
- Provide clear, pragmatic advice to client‑facing teams, operations, and senior leadership on applicable legal and regulatory requirements, with a strong focus on Wtt obligations.
- Oversee and strengthen the regulatory compliance framework, ensuring robust governance across client due diligence, ongoing monitoring, and integrity risk assessments.
- Support strategic decision‑making by identifying emerging regulatory developments and assessing their impact on the business.
Due Diligence & Monitoring
- Supervise and review high‑risk KYC files, onboarding assessments, and periodic reviews.
- Ensure that transaction monitoring procedures and risk‑based controls are appropriately applied and continuously enhanced.
Risk Assessment & Policy Development
- Contribute to the periodic Systematic Integrity Risk Assessment (SIRA) and drive continuous improvement.
- Develop, review, and maintain internal compliance policies aligned with global standards and local regulations.
Training & Culture
- Deliver training and guidance to employees on compliance expectations, regulatory updates, and best practices.
- Promote a culture of integrity and awareness throughout the organization.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Coordinate with global compliance colleagues to ensure alignment and share best practices.
- Engage with internal audit, operations, and legal teams to support remediation and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications & Experience
- 6+ years of experience in compliance, preferably within trust, corporate services, financial services, or similar regulated industries.
- Strong knowledge of Dutch AML regulations and Wtt (Wet toezicht trustkantoren).
- Excellent analytical skills with a strong ability to assess risks and provide structured, actionable guidance.
- Professional communication skills in English; Dutch language skills are an advantage.
- Proactive, detail‑oriented, and capable of working independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
- Confident decision‑maker with the ability to prioritize and manage complex workloads.
