Senior Accounting Analyst - Trade Accounting
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead the monthly close process for specific trading entities, including preparing reconciliations, reviewing financial information for accuracy, and posting required entries into the accounting system.
- Monitor daily money movements and record routine activity related to trades, settlements, and transfers.
- Assist in preparing profit‑and‑loss information for trading groups and help ensure internal reporting remains consistent and complete.
- Confirm that account balances related to trading activity are properly stated and supported by documentation.
- Investigate irregularities in datasets, identify root causes, and maintain clear audit trails.
- Contribute to external audit and tax processes by gathering materials and responding to information requests.
- Recognize inefficiencies in workflows and suggest or implement improvements, including automation projects.
- Support short‑term and long‑term initiatives across the finance function, as requested.
- Handle additional responsibilities as business needs evolve.
Skills & Experience
- 4+ years of experience in accounting or a closely related function.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance; professional certification (e.g., CPA or equivalent) is advantageous.
- Background in trading, brokerage, investment management, or related financial markets is highly beneficial.
- Strong Excel capabilities (pivot tables, lookups, and similar functions).
- Comfortable working with SQL or comparable database tools.
- Familiarity with major accounting systems such as NetSuite or similar platforms.
- Able to work independently, prioritize multiple tasks, and troubleshoot issues proactively.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and documentation habits.
- Effective communicator who collaborates well across teams and disciplines.
- Adaptable, dependable, and able to handle sensitive information appropriately.
