Position Summary
The Managing MA Bid Actuary will serve as a senior member of the actuarial team, responsible for overseeing the Medicare Advantage bid development process. This includes leading pricing strategies, ensuring compliance with regulatory guidance, and delivering actuarial insights that support market growth and sustainability.
The ideal candidate combines technical MA expertise with leadership capability, strategic thinking, and strong collaboration skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end‑to‑end Medicare Advantage bid development process, including benefit strategy alignment, pricing, and CMS submission.
- Oversee financial modeling, experience analysis, and competitive intelligence to inform bid decisions.
- Partner with finance, product, network, clinical, and compliance teams to ensure bid accuracy and strategic alignment.
- Interpret CMS guidance, regulatory updates, and market trends to proactively adjust bid strategies.
- Present actuarial recommendations and bid results to senior leadership.
- Manage and mentor actuarial staff involved in MA bid development.
- Ensure actuarial compliance, documentation standards, and audit readiness.
- Support ongoing MA financial monitoring, forecasting, and performance improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- ASA credential required; FSA is nice to have.
- Minimum 5+ years of actuarial experience, with direct Medicare Advantage bid experience required.
- Prior people leadership or team management experience strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of CMS bid requirements, pricing components, and MA regulatory frameworks.
- Advanced analytical and modeling skills with a commitment to accuracy and compliance.
- Ability to communicate complex actuarial concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a time‑sensitive environment.
Preferred Skills & Competencies
- Deep knowledge of Medicare Advantage product design, risk adjustment, pricing levers, and competitive positioning.
- Proven ability to guide strategy and influence decision‑making across cross‑functional teams.
- Experience improving actuarial processes, models, or workflows.
- Strong business acumen and comfort presenting to senior executives.
- Collaborative leadership style with the ability to motivate and develop actuarial talent.

- 100% remote role, with occasional travel for leadership meetings or team collaboration.
