This role requires a strong understanding of defined benefit plan rules, actuarial concepts, and regulatory requirements, as well as the ability to communicate complex information clearly to clients.

The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of hands-on experience in defined benefit plan administration, with a preference for individuals who bring 8 to 12 years of experience and can operate independently while offering mentorship to less experienced team members.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a portfolio of defined benefit plans, ensuring accurate and timely plan administration and compliance.

  • Prepare and/or review actuarial valuation reports, funding calculations, benefit accruals, and plan terminations.

  • Coordinate and conduct annual nondiscrimination testing, minimum required contributions, and 4010/PBGC filings.

  • Interpret plan documents and ensure compliance with ERISA, IRS, and DOL regulations.

  • Partner with actuaries and internal teams to deliver comprehensive plan analysis and strategic recommendations.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, providing clear, consultative guidance and timely responses to inquiries.

  • Support plan design changes, amendments, and implementation of plan corrections or restatements.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on data audits, system enhancements, and process improvements.

  • Mentor junior staff by sharing expertise, reviewing work, and contributing to training efforts.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of defined benefit plan experience; 8-12 years preferred.

  • Solid understanding of DB plan design, administration, and regulatory compliance.

  • Familiarity with actuarial principles and funding rules (experience working with actuaries is a plus).

  • Strong client relationship management and communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities.

  • High attention to detail and a commitment to delivering accurate, high-quality work.

  • Proficient in Excel, Word, and pension administration software (experience with systems like ProVal, Pension Plus, ASC, or FT William is a plus).

  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Finance, Actuarial Science, or related field preferred.
