CTO - Ultra-Low-Latency Trading Systems (London)

Our client is seeking a hands-on Chief Technology Officer to lead the full technology function for their ultra‑low‑latency trading platform in the digital assets space. This is a highly technical role with ownership of architecture, engineering, product direction, and security.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the technical vision, platform architecture, and engineering standards.
  • Remain 90% hands-on: designing, coding, reviewing and shipping production systems.
  • Drive the product roadmap and convert commercial requirements into engineering delivery.
  • Lead information security, platform integrity, and regulatory compliance.
  • Work closely with a small senior engineering team and lead by example.

Required Experience

  • A background in trading systems is essential (low-latency, execution engines, market data, exchange connectivity).
  • Strong backend engineering experience in C++, with the ability to build high‑performance, production-grade systems.
  • Broad technical depth across infrastructure, DevSecOps, cloud, and CI/CD.
  • Strong understanding of IAM, OAuth2/OIDC, microservices, APIs, and distributed systems.
  • Experience in fintech, digital assets, or regulated technology environments is advantageous.
  • Comfortable working across multiple functions: hands‑on IC, product, and security.
