Commercial Underwriter
A fast-growing insurance provider is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented professional to join its underwriting team. This company offers a simplified, all-in-one insurance solution tailored for small businesses across various industries-from hospitality and trades to professional services. The role supports a dynamic sales team and contributes to the evaluation and management of risk across multiple lines of coverage.
This is a hybrid position requiring two days per week in the office.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct underwriting reviews including referrals, post-bind assessments, endorsements, policy rewrites, and cancellations.
- Analyze risk exposure to ensure underwriting quality and profitability in alignment with company guidelines.
- Support a customer-first culture that emphasizes responsiveness, clarity, and ease of service.
- Assist with customer service tasks such as resolving billing discrepancies, responding to inquiries, and supporting multi-channel quote and purchase workflows.
- Adapt to evolving business needs, including changes in technology, underwriting criteria, compliance standards, and operational strategies.
- Handle premium audit communications and documentation with clients.
Qualifications
Skills & Experience:
- Solid experience in commercial property or casualty underwriting is required.
- Familiarity with small business insurance lines including General Liability, Property, Workers Compensation, and Commercial Auto is preferred.
- Strong analytical skills and comfort working in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Education:
- Associate or bachelor's degree required.
