Business Controller - Retail Financing

Responsibilities for the Business Controller - Retail Financing:

  • Act as a strategic finance partner to business unit heads, providing budgeting, forecasting, and performance insights to support commercial decision‑making
  • Own and review group financial results, management reporting, and variance analysis
  • Lead FP&A activities, including cash flow planning, working capital management, and cost optimisation
  • Oversee full‑set accounting across multiple entities, ensuring compliance with SFRS
  • Manage month‑end and year‑end close processes, including audit coordination
  • Oversee statutory reporting, GST, and corporate tax matters, liaising with external auditors and tax agents
  • Establish and strengthen internal controls, policies, and finance processes as the business scales
  • Lead and develop a lean finance team, providing guidance and hands‑on support where required
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across reporting, systems, and finance operations
  • Serve as a trusted finance advisor to senior management during a phase of significant business growth

Requirements for the Business Controller - Retail Financing:

  • Degree in Accountancy, Finance, or a related discipline; professional qualifications (ACCA / CA / CPA) preferred
  • Approximately 7-12 years of relevant finance experience
  • Minimum 2 years of audit or internal audit experience is required
  • Broad exposure across financial reporting, FP&A, audit, tax, and statutory compliance
  • Experience working in multi‑entity or group structures
  • Background in retail and/or FMCG industries is strongly preferred, particularly in commercial finance or business partnering roles
  • Strong commercial mindset with the ability to partner effectively with business leaders
  • Comfortable operating in a hands‑on, fast‑moving, and pragmatic environment
  • Proven leadership experience managing or mentoring junior finance team members
  • Strong communication skills and confidence working with stakeholders at all levels
