Assistant Director, Investment Accounting
Overview
A global insurance firm is seeking an Assistant Director within Investment Accounting to support a multi-billion-dollar portfolio across various asset classes. This is a high-visibility role within corporate finance, partnering with accounting, FP&A, and investment teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee accounting and reporting for a diversified investment portfolio (fixed income, equities, alternatives, loans, derivatives)
- Manage monthly and quarterly close processes across multiple entities
- Support GAAP and STAT reporting, including SEC filings and regulatory disclosures
- Review and prepare investment-related footnotes and financial statement disclosures
- Partner with internal stakeholders to ensure accurate accounting for new investment transactions
- Lead process improvements, automation initiatives, and strengthen internal controls
- Support implementation of new accounting standards and systems
- Coordinate with auditors and support internal/external audit processes
- Perform analytics and provide insights on investment-related results
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- 10+ years of experience in investment accounting, reporting, or related field
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and statutory (NAIC) reporting
- Experience with complex investment products (fixed income, equity, alternatives, derivatives)
- Exposure to SEC reporting (10-K, 10-Q) preferred
- Advanced Excel skills; experience with investment systems (e.g., Aladdin, PAM) a plus
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, regulated environment
