Actuary
Job Summary:
This position supports a team of actuaries responsible for budgeting, forecasting, and pricing strategy. The role focuses on analyzing contracted rate adjustments and their impact on unit cost trends. It involves close collaboration with finance and contracting leaders across four regional markets to deliver strategic insights into unit cost dynamics and network pricing across various product lines. The ideal candidate will apply deep knowledge of network strategy and value-based contracting to inform decision-making and drive cost efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates proactive leadership and fosters a culture of continuous learning by engaging with cross-functional teams, sharing insights, and mentoring junior colleagues. Adapts to evolving priorities and incorporates feedback to improve performance and team outcomes.
- Leads or contributes to specialized projects by applying subject matter expertise, ensuring compliance with internal policies, developing actionable plans, and coordinating resources to meet strategic goals. Identifies opportunities for improvement and escalates risks when necessary.
- Prepares actuarial documentation for financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and internal presentations to mid-level leadership.
- Conducts product line evaluations by analyzing financial performance, reserves, and cash flow, and communicates findings to support product development and strategic planning.
- Designs and executes actuarial research initiatives to refine methodologies, assumptions, and respond to changes in the regulatory landscape.
- Evaluates financial risks and opportunities using advanced actuarial techniques and judgment, often beyond traditional approaches.
- Partners with business stakeholders to translate complex actuarial concepts into practical recommendations, ensuring alignment with professional standards.
- Develops models and assumptions for both traditional and innovative actuarial applications to support business objectives.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in mathematics or a related discipline, plus at least eight (8) years of actuarial experience. Equivalent professional experience may substitute for the degree requirement.
- Certification as an Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society or Associate of the Society of Actuaries.
