Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced SPP Financial Transmission Rights (FTR) Trader to develop, execute, and optimize congestion‑focused trading strategies within the SPP market. This role requires strong analytical skills, market intuition, and the ability to manage risk in a dynamic trading environment.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze SPP congestion patterns, transmission constraints, and nodal pricing to identify trading opportunities.
- Execute trades in SPP FTR auctions and secondary markets.
- Build, manage, and optimize FTR portfolios using hedging strategies, scenario analysis, and quantitative risk tools.
- Monitor SPP market structure, tariff changes, and transmission planning updates.
- Ensure adherence to internal risk limits, compliance policies, and regulatory guidelines.
- Work collaboratively with teams including physical power, virtual trading, quantitative modeling, risk management, and operations.
- Enhance and maintain trading models and analytical tools to support congestion forecasting.
Qualifications:
- 4+ years of SPP market experience
- Self‑driven and comfortable working remotely with limited direction or team interaction.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or related field (Master's preferred).
- Strong quantitative and statistical skills with proficiency in Python, SQL, R, or similar analytical tools.
- Deep understanding of SPP market structure, congestion pricing, auction mechanisms, and transmission topology.
- Experience developing or improving trading models, tools, or forecasting frameworks.
