Energy Derivatives Trader (Hedging)
We are currently partnering with global institutional financial services firm operating at the intersection of listed and OTC derivatives, commodities, and risk management. As one of the key contributor within an institutional energy trading desk, you will be responsible for the the pricing, execution, and risk management of energy derivatives, including options, swaps, and futures.
This role combines active market involvement with robust analytical responsibilities, supporting trading decisions through daily risk, P&L, and portfolio analysis. In addition, this role also supports internal risk and commercial teams by delivering market pricing, hedging recommendations, and real‑time market intelligence aligned to client exposures.
Responsibilities
- Play a core role on the energy trading desk by pricing and executing energy derivatives-including swaps, options, and futures-while monitoring daily trading activity for accuracy and operational integrity
- Run daily portfolio risk analyses, P&L updates, reconciliations and other essential reporting to ensure positions and exposures are fully understood across the team
- Support internal risk and commercial teams by providing live market insights, price indications, and hedging strategy suggestions tailored to client exposures
- Collaborate closely with front, middle, and back‑office colleagues to resolve trade issues, maintain smooth operational workflows, and uphold compliance standards
- Become proficient in trading systems used for OTC and cleared products, contributing to the development of new analytical tools that enhance market analysis and trading signals
Requirements
- At least 5-10 years of energy client risk management, and commercial hedging solutions
- Bachelor's degree with strong written and verbal communication abilities
- Required regulatory licences to trade both exchange‑listed and OTC derivatives
- Approved registered trader to operate on local derivatives exchanges
- Highly organised, detail‑focused, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑moving environment
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with options‑analytics tools is a bonus
- Experience with programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++ is a plus
- Self‑driven and ability to thrive in a fast-paced trading environment
