Software Engineer - Quant Hedge Fund - Paris

Our client, a leading quantitative hedge fund, is seeking a Software Engineer to join its Paris-based engineering team. This is a unique opportunity to work at the core of a data-driven investment platform, managing and integrating large-scale datasets that support systematic trading and research. In this role, you will contribute to the design and implementation of data storage systems and APIs, monitor data ingestion processes, and ensure the health and quality of diverse datasets. You'll collaborate closely with quantitative researchers and traders to deliver reliable, high-performance data solutions.

To support the fund's next-generation infrastructure, the team are looking to use Rust to build core components of its data platform for performance-sensitive workloads, enabling the development of ultra-fast, memory-safe data pipelines and services. Other projects may revolve around optimization of data ingestion, transformation, and storage for large volumes of structured and unstructured data. Ensuring low-latency data processing and robust system performance is critical for maintaining a competitive edge in systematic trading.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain extensive datasets used across research and trading platforms
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of scalable data stores and APIs
  • Monitor data fetching processes and ensure data health and integrity
  • Integrate alternative datasets into the existing data ecosystem
  • Provide technical support to internal users, including quants and traders

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • 2+ years of experience in a data-related role
  • Proficiency in Rust and Python is essential
  • Strong understanding of code quality principles
  • Excellent communication skills in English (written and verbal)
  • Ability to understand and respond to user needs
  • Experience with structured and unstructured data management is a plus
  • Familiarity with financial data, particularly equities and derivatives, is advantageous
  • A curious mindset with a passion for learning new technologies
  • Comfortable working independently within a globally distributed team
