Job Opportunity: Network Engineer

Location: Chicago, IL
Salary Range: $150,000-$200,000 + Discretionary Bonus
Type: Full-Time | Hybrid | Global Collaboration

A leading proprietary trading firm is seeking to find a Network Engineer who thrives in high-performance environments and is passionate about building and optimizing ultra-low latency infrastructure. Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, configure, and support global network infrastructure optimized for low-latency trading.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain hybrid wireless and wired high-performance network environments.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex issues such as micro-bursting, jitter, and queuing using data-driven methods.
  • Automate network management, deployment, and maintenance using scripting and DevOps tools.
  • Lead global network initiatives from design through implementation and documentation.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in networking and infrastructure support.
  • 1+ year of scripting experience (Python preferred).
  • Advanced knowledge of IP networking, TCP/IP, switching, routing (BGP, OSPF), and multicast (IGMP, PIM).
  • Experience supporting large-scale global network environments.
  • Familiarity with hardware platforms (Cisco, Mellanox, Arista).
  • Proficiency with Git, REST/JSON, and automation tools (e.g., Ansible).
  • Experience with databases and monitoring tools (e.g., MySQL, Splunk, Grafana, Icinga).
  • Strong Linux shell skills and troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • CCIE certification or equivalent experience.
  • Bachelor's degree (preferably in Information Technology).
  • Proven ability to operate in high-pressure environments with a collaborative mindset.
