Key Responsibilities
- Build, maintain, and grow a profitable book of business.
- Serve as the lead client contact and manage agency relationships.
- Develop and execute marketing strategies to drive new and renewal business.
- Rate, quote, and bind complex risks, ensuring appropriate coverage and pricing.
- Submit underwriting referrals to internal brokerage facilities and senior management.
- Monitor key performance metrics and implement corrective actions to improve hit ratios, retention, premium growth, and loss ratios.
- Lead, mentor, and develop Assistant and Associate Underwriters.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 3 years of commercial lines underwriting experience; excess & surplus experience preferred.
- Strong sales and marketing acumen.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Commitment to ongoing education and professional development.
- Insurance license and industry designations (e.g., CPCU, CIC) preferred.
