AWS Cloud Engineer

Key responsibilities
- Design and implement tailored AWS architectures to support advanced research and modelling platforms
- Collaborate with engineers, data scientists, and technical stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable and secure cloud solutions
- Ensure high performance, availability, and reliability of infrastructure supporting large-scale data processing
- Automate infrastructure deployment, monitoring, and management to enable efficient development and rapid experimentation
- Continuously optimise cloud systems for scalability, cost efficiency, and performance
- Stay up to date with AWS technologies and contribute to best practices across the team
Required skills and experience
- 5+ years of experience as a Cloud Engineer or Architect with a strong focus on AWS
- Deep knowledge of AWS services such as EKS, EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, VPC, IAM, and CloudWatch
- Proven experience designing highly available, resilient, and secure cloud environments
- Strong understanding of cloud security, governance, and encryption principles
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g. Terraform)
- Experience with containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes) and serverless architectures
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure challenges
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical teams
- AWS certifications (e.g. Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer) are a plus
