SRE - Market Maker

Our client, a leading systematic market maker, is looking for a SRE to work on their internal high‑performance trading systems. This role offers a rare opportunity to collaborate with one of the most successful market‑making firms and top figures in the industry. This is a high‑impact, high‑ownership role with significant scope to accelerate one's career.

The ideal candidate is from a top financial institution, sitting close to trading systems, and understands the ins and outs of low‑latency, highly distributed trading systems. With a clear communication style and strong commercial mindset, this role will involve close collaboration with traders. In addition to a deep understanding of UNIX/Linux command lines, the candidate should have a strong grasp of application‑level networking.

Responsibilities:
* Ensure real‑time trading systems remain stable and performance, proactively monitoring, diagnosing, and resolving issues that could impact trading or market connectivity.
* Act as the first line of defense for production incidents, leading live troubleshooting, performing root‑cause analysis, and preventing recurrence in a highly distributed, low‑latency environment.
* Partner closely with trading, engineering, and infrastructure teams to plan capacity, execute upgrades, and safely migrate applications with zero or minimal disruption.
* Improve system reliability and efficiency through automation, leveraging Python, Bash, and SQL to streamline operational workflows and reduce manual intervention.
* Continuously tune and optimize systems and networks, applying deep OS, networking, and performance knowledge to support the demands of a high‑frequency trading environment.

Requirements:
* Strong foundations in Linux/UNIX, networking (TCP/IP, UDP), SQL, and scripting (Python/Bash) for early‑career candidates
* Experience with real‑time production support, root‑cause analysis, and distributed systems for senior candidates
* Capability to manage large‑scale infrastructure, capacity planning, migrations, and upgrades
* Excellent collaboration, communication, multitasking, and problem‑solving skills
* Preferred exposure to trading systems, intermediate Python development, and OS performance tuning
