Position Overview
The Tax Accountant will play a key role in managing tax compliance, supporting financial reporting processes, and ensuring accurate tax treatment under both GAAP and statutory accounting principles. This role will also support tax calculations and reporting for surplus lines operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax filings for P&C insurance entities
  • Support quarterly and annual tax provisions under GAAP and statutory accounting
  • Assist in preparing surplus lines tax filings and maintaining compliance across jurisdictions
  • Collaborate with Finance, Accounting, and external auditors to ensure accurate and timely reporting
  • Monitor changes in tax regulations affecting property & casualty insurance companies
  • Contribute to process improvements, documentation, and internal controls related to tax workflows

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of tax experience, preferably within insurance or financial services
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP tax accounting and statutory accounting principles (SAP)
  • Experience with surplus lines tax compliance strongly preferred
  • Proficiency in tax research tools and financial reporting systems
  • Detail‑oriented, analytical, and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA and/or MS in Tax
