Production Support Engineer
An elite proprietary trading firm in Chicago is seeking a Production Support Engineer to join their team. This group plays a critical role in maintaining and scaling high-performance, low-latency trading systems. Working closely with trading, development, and operations teams, you will be responsible for deploying, monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimizing infrastructure to improve system reliability, performance, and automation.
About the role:
- Deliver technical support to fast-paced trading environments, resolving complex issues and managing incidents under pressure.
- Deploy, maintain, and monitor proprietary trading applications to ensure consistent performance and system stability.
- Analyze incidents to identify patterns and implement improvements that enhance automation and operational workflows.
- Coordinate the rollout of new trading systems, products, and exchange integrations, ensuring readiness for market events and updates.
- Design and maintain services to ensure high availability and performance of trading systems.
- Collaborate with software engineers to define best practices and ensure long-term system resilience.
- Establish configuration and deployment standards to reduce risk and support scalability.
- Oversee co location infrastructure to ensure sufficient redundancy and capacity for future growth.
- Automate system management tasks while maintaining oversight of critical operations.
What you'll need:
- Bachelors Degree in computer science or equivalent
- 5+ years of experience as an SRE or Production Support Engineer
- Experience managing distributed systems in Linux environments, with strong knowledge of networking, build systems, and version control.
- Proficiency in scripting (e.g., Python) and CI/CD tools for automation.
- Familiarity with relational databases such as PostgreSQL.
- Working knowledge of maintaining Kubernetes clusters in on-premise environments.
- Proven ability to drive system improvements and collaborate across global teams.
Bonus:
- Experience in high-frequency trading environments is a plus, but not required.
- No prior finance experience necessary-comprehensive on boarding will provide all relevant business knowledge.
This role must sit in the firms Chicago office working in a hybrid model of 3 days a week on site.
Salary: $160,000-225,000 base salary plus annual discretionary bonus.
