Associate - Real Estate Accounting & Operations
Selby Jennings is working with a leading real estate credit investment firm to identify an Associate for their Real Estate Accounting & Operations team in Dallas. This role sits within the broader loan asset management division and offers hands-on exposure to both property-level financials and operational workflows. The ideal candidate will bring experience in commercial real estate servicing, property accounting, and asset-level reporting, and will thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Real Estate Owned (REO) Accounting:
- Support the oversight of a diverse portfolio of real estate-owned assets across multiple property types (e.g., office, industrial, retail, multifamily, hospitality).
- Assist with onboarding new REO assets, including coordinating cash management transitions, setting up property manager accounting systems, and reconciling initial balances.
- Review monthly property financials including income statements, balance sheets, and ledgers (A/P, A/R, general).
- Participate in annual budget reviews and CAM reconciliation processes.
- Process funding requests and coordinate wire transfers with internal accounting teams.
- Manage investor reporting deliverables and respond to ad hoc inquiries.
- Handle miscellaneous requests such as transfer tax calculations and surety bond coordination.
- Support audit-related documentation and requests.
Operations:
- Prepare guarantor financial metrics (net worth and liquidity) for review.
- Conduct escrow analyses for taxes and insurance as needed.
- Collaborate with asset managers, accounting teams, and loan servicers to ensure smooth operations.
- Contribute to ongoing process improvements and documentation updates.
Candidate Profile:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Real Estate, or a related field.
- 2-5 years of experience in commercial real estate asset management, loan servicing, or property accounting preferred. Strong recent graduates may be considered.
- Advanced Excel skills required; Yardi experience is a plus.
- Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
- Highly organized, deadline-driven, and capable of managing multiple priorities.
- Demonstrated integrity, professionalism, and a collaborative spirit.
