Position Title: Underwriting Manager - Group Excess
Location: Hybrid (3-4 days/week onsite in New York City)

The Underwriting Manager - Group Excess will lead the underwriting strategy and operations for group excess liability products distributed through affinity channels such as family offices, membership organizations, and private client networks. This leadership role is pivotal in ensuring disciplined underwriting, sustainable growth, and strong partnerships across the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead underwriting for the Group Excess Program in alignment with risk appetite and profitability goals
  • Assess complex personal excess liability risks for high-net-worth clients in group structures
  • Cultivate relationships with affinity partners, brokers, and private client advisors
  • Collaborate with internal teams (Claims, Legal, Product, Compliance, Distribution) to ensure seamless program delivery
  • Monitor performance metrics and adjust strategies to ensure long-term success
  • Contribute to program design, pricing models, and coverage enhancements
  • Represent underwriting in business development efforts
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and regulatory standards

Key Qualifications:

  • 7+ years in personal lines underwriting, with a focus on high-net-worth or excess liability
  • Deep understanding of high-net-worth risk profiles and group excess exposures
  • Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Finance, Business, or related field (advanced degrees/designations like CPCU or ARM preferred)
  • 3+ years in an underwriting leadership role, ideally in affinity or program business
  • Experience with affinity/MGA channels and program partnerships
  • Strong analytical, communication, and relationship management skills
  • Proficiency in underwriting platforms, analytics tools, and Microsoft Office

Salary Range:
$180,000 - $200,000
