Supervisory Reinsurance Accountant
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate excess of loss and quota share cessions and premium adjustments across multiple Western World reinsurance programs.
- Prepare and review monthly journal entries.
- Calculate premium adjustments and collaborate with Reinsurance Collections on settlements and cash application.
- Ensure compliance with SOX controls through ongoing reviews.
- Research and analyze data to support responses to reinsurer inquiries.
- Assist CFO and FP&A teams with questions related to reinsurance activity.
- Review Schedule F Part 3 for recoverable, payable, and funds-held balances.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting required; CPA preferred.
- 3+ years of relevant professional experience.
- Strong understanding of reinsurance operations (underwriting, claims, accounting, finance) and related processes, controls, and systems.
- Expertise in insurance technical accounting and financial statement analysis.
- Strong business acumen and awareness of macroeconomic factors affecting financial results.
- Experience managing onshore/offshore resources and optimizing workflows across time zones.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills across Finance and operational teams.
- Strong systems and reporting acumen, with the ability to navigate new finance architectures.
- High attention to detail with the ability to balance accuracy and big-picture objectives.
- Comfortable working in a dynamic, transformational environment and contributing to process improvement.
