Senior Technical Accountant
A growing insurance and reinsurance organization is seeking a Senior Technical Accountant to join its Finance team. This individual will play a key role in the preparation, analysis, and review of complex financial reporting activities while supporting the accurate accounting of reinsurance transactions and related balances.
The ideal candidate will possess strong technical accounting knowledge and a proven ability to analyze financial data, investigate reporting variances, perform account reconciliations, and provide meaningful insights to business stakeholders. This role offers significant exposure to cross-functional teams including actuarial, finance, and operational partners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and analyze quarterly financial reports and supporting schedules for complex insurance and reinsurance transactions.
- Perform detailed account reconciliations and investigate reporting discrepancies and unusual trends.
- Analyze financial results, identify variances, and communicate findings to key stakeholders.
- Maintain documentation supporting financial reporting, audits, and regulatory requirements.
- Review client and transactional data for accuracy and completeness.
- Partner with internal teams to resolve accounting and reporting issues.
- Support internal and external audit requests, including preparation of schedules and supporting documentation.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives and implementation of best practices.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members as needed.
- Assist leadership with special projects, reporting requests, and strategic initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 5+ years of accounting, financial reporting, or technical accounting experience.
- Strong understanding of complex accounting concepts and financial statement analysis.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Insurance or reinsurance industry experience preferred.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.
