About the Opportunity
We are seeking a Senior Accountant to join the corporate finance team and take ownership of key accounting and reporting activities. This individual will be a critical contributor to the accuracy and integrity of the company's financial statements and will support continued growth by strengthening processes, documentation, and internal controls.
The ideal candidate brings deep technical accounting knowledge, strong insurance‑sector experience, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, evolving organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead essential components of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
- Prepare and review complex journal entries and financial reconciliations
- Research, analyze, and resolve variances in balance sheet and income statement accounts
- Support leadership with monthly and quarterly financial analysis and variance explanations
- Prepare and review GAAP and statutory financial statements, ensuring full compliance with applicable standards
- Assist with external, internal, and regulatory audits, including schedules, disclosures, and supporting documentation
- Document and improve accounting procedures, internal controls, and reporting workflows
- Identify control gaps and propose enhancements to strengthen financial reporting quality
- Collaborate cross‑functionally as a subject‑matter expert for accounting guidance and best practices
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting required; Master's degree a plus
- 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within the insurance industry
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, statutory accounting principles, and regulatory reporting frameworks
- Advanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, nested formulas)
- Experience with accounting/ERP systems strongly preferred
- Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and reconciliation expertise
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to simplify complex concepts for non‑accounting stakeholders
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and independently prioritize in a dynamic environment

Work Environment
This role requires regular movement around the office, including sitting, standing, walking, and occasionally navigating stairs. Light lifting (up to 25 lbs) and the use of standard office equipment may be required.
