Manager, Accounting Policy
This role serves as the primary owner of the company's accounting policies and procedures, as well as all accounting research conducted under both Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP). All responsibilities must be performed in accordance with applicable legal and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development, implementation, and enhancement of accounting policies and procedures across the department.
- Manage and coordinate the annual review and update cycle for all accounting policies and procedures.
- Monitor activities and emerging guidance from the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) and the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC), and communicate relevant updates.
- Oversee GAAP and SAP research initiatives, partnering with subject‑matter experts across Finance.
- Monitor and coordinate compliance with the Finance records and information management policies to ensure adherence across all teams.
- Provide quality control over quarterly and annual filings submitted to the SEC and NAIC, including review of disclosure checklists and related documentation.
- Ensure organizational compliance with GAAP and SAP reporting requirements.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, SEC reporting requirements, and/or SAP.
- Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate resources and manage collaborative projects.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
- Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience in public accounting or a combination of public and industry roles.
- Experience in financial services is preferred.
