I'm currently working on a remote leadership opportunity with a subprime lender that's hiring a Director, Consumer Credit Analytics to lead credit strategy for their U.S. lending portfolio and play a key role in efforts to re-expand their footprint in the U.S. market. This role will be responsible for developing and optimizing credit strategies, overseeing compliance and risk frameworks, managing a small team, and leveraging data science to improve decisioning. It's a hands-on position with high visibility to senior leadership, including the CRO and CEO.

The ideal candidate will bring 10+ years of experience in consumer credit risk analytics, with deep expertise in subprime lending, proficiency in tools like SAS, SQL, R, or Python, and proven people management experience. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and wants to have real influence on strategy and growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimize credit strategies for origination, underwriting, and portfolio management.
  • Maintain and enhance analytics for approve/decline logic, loan assignment, refinancing, and risk-based pricing.
  • Monitor key performance indicators such as delinquency, charge-offs, yield, and concentration risk.
  • Oversee daily operations of the credit risk team, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Identify emerging risks and recommend policy or strategy changes.
  • Lead and mentor a team of analysts, fostering growth and collaboration.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to integrate risk management into business initiatives.
  • Present insights and recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Apply advanced analytics and machine learning to improve decisioning processes.
  • Conduct analysis using SAS, SQL, R, Python, or similar tools.
  • Support development of lifetime value models and loss forecasting.
  • Optimize lead acquisition through platforms and bidding systems.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years in consumer credit risk, with a focus on subprime lending.
  • Proven leadership in managing analytical teams and cross-functional projects.
  • Proficiency in statistical and data tools (SAS, SQL, R, Python).
  • Strong communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Economics, Data Science, or related field.
  • Familiarity with lead generation platforms and bidding systems is a plus.
