Database Administrator
A leading trading firm is seeking a talented Database Administrator with outstanding database and SQL expertise. As a key member of there team, you will take ownership of innovative projects, developing, supporting, and enhancing mission-critical databases that drive our success and future growth. You will collaborate with quants, traders, engineers, business, and research teams to strengthen and scale our existing databases.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and support all critical SQL databases for the firm.
- Handle database management tasks for both production and non-production workloads, focusing on automation.
- Troubleshoot, resolve, and perform root cause analysis for database and application-specific incidents.
- Conduct data modeling, schema design, testing, capacity planning, and change control management.
- Execute database baselining, benchmarking, performance analysis, and tuning.
- Collaborate with engineering colleagues to create and execute project plans aligned with customer expectations and company goals.
- Perform database backup and recovery operations, replication, patching, upgrades, and implement security policies.
- Profile and optimize performance of new and existing stored procedures.
- Create and maintain ETL jobs for new and existing data sources.
- Identify and implement performance improvements.
- Support and manage database projects alongside our Senior DBA.
Required Skills:
- BS/BA degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of database experience.
- Experience optimizing hardware resources, database replication, and other high availability solutions.
- Experience working in a 24/7/365 operation.
- Excellent Linux and scripting skills; Python is a plus.
- In-depth knowledge of PostgreSQL.
- Experience with ETL and database monitoring tools.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team while taking ownership of new projects.
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities in a fast-paced industry.
- Experience building data pipelines for research infrastructure in any industry is a plus.
- SQL and DBA certifications are advantageous.
