Credit Officer - Leveraged Finance

This second‑line role sits within the Credit Office of a leading global bank, providing independent risk oversight across corporate, leveraged, structured finance, FI and sovereign exposures. The position plays a critical part in credit decision‑making, portfolio stewardship and risk governance, working closely with front office and regional credit teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead credit analysis and internal ratings for complex corporate and leveraged transactions, producing concise approval materials.
  • Independently evaluate new deals, clearly articulating key risks and recommendations to senior committees.
  • Provide effective challenge on structure, returns and capital impact to ensure disciplined risk-taking.
  • Act as the primary risk partner to relationship, sector and product teams.
  • Deliver timely credit opinions and briefings to senior stakeholders.
  • Support portfolio oversight, early warning identification and risk appetite execution.
  • Collaborate with EMEA and global credit teams to ensure consistency and best practice.
  • Contribute to credit frameworks, policies and strategic initiatives.
  • Coach junior team members and share subject‑matter expertise.

Key Requirements

  • 5+ years' experience in credit risk within financial services, covering corporate and leveraged finance.
  • Demonstrated LBO and large-cap transaction exposure is essential.
  • Strong knowledge of credit risk principles, leveraged structures and LMA documentation.
  • Solid understanding of regulatory credit processes and governance.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills in English.
  • Strong analytical ability with high attention to detail.
