Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) Consultant - Inpatient

Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) Consultant | Remote

We're partnering with a leading healthcare consulting organization that is continuing to invest in and grow its Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) practice.

This team works directly with hospitals and health systems to improve documentation quality, reimbursement accuracy, and clinical outcomes, and they're looking for experienced CDI professionals who thrive in a consulting environment.

What they're looking for:

✅ Current or recent inpatient CDI experience is required

✅ Previous nursing experience (RN background strongly preferred)

✅ Experience performing concurrent inpatient record reviews

✅ Strong knowledge of MS-DRGs, CC/MCC capture, severity of illness (SOI), and risk of mortality (ROM)

✅ Experience educating physicians and clinical teams on documentation improvement opportunities

✅ Ability to work directly with hospital clients and provide actionable recommendations

✅ CCDS, CDIP, RHIA, RHIT, or related certifications

Ideal Background

This opportunity is best suited for candidates who have transitioned from a nursing career into CDI and have built a strong foundation in inpatient documentation improvement.

Important: This is not an outpatient CDI, HCC/risk adjustment, ambulatory CDI, or coding-only role. Candidates should have hands-on inpatient CDI experience and a clinical background that allows them to understand documentation from both a nursing and reimbursement perspective.

Why Consider It?

🔹 Fully remote

🔹 National healthcare consulting exposure

🔹 Opportunity to work with leading hospitals and health systems

🔹 Exposure to complex CDI engagements and physician education initiatives

🔹 Strong career growth opportunities within a growing practice
