Role Overview
A leading APAC headquartered bank is seeking a Vice President to join its Project Finance franchise in New York. This role will function as the primary Project Finance professional in the U.S., reporting directly into the Global Project Finance team based in Singapore, with in country reporting locally.
This is a highly visible and entrepreneurial role within a small and growing platform. The successful candidate will have full accountability for project finance activity in the U.S., supported by a well resourced global project finance team in Asia. The role offers broad responsibility across transaction analysis, structuring, execution, and portfolio management, with direct exposure to senior stakeholders across regions.
The position is ideal for an enterprising, highly technical project finance professional who is active in the market, capable of independently analyzing transactions, and motivated to take ownership and grow with the platform.
Key Responsibilities
* Act as the primary Project Finance point person in the U.S., working closely with and reporting functionally into the Global Project Finance team in Singapore
* Independently evaluate project finance opportunities from initial screening through execution, with accountability for transaction quality and structuring
* Build, run, and review detailed financial models, including base case and downside scenarios, sensitivity analysis, and stress testing
* Analyze project structures, risk allocation, contracts, and counterparties to clearly delineate attractive transactions from weaker opportunities
* Prepare high quality credit approval materials and investment memoranda for review by global credit and risk committees
* Lead transaction execution in coordination with sponsors, developers, advisors, legal counsel, technical consultants, and internal stakeholders
* Work closely with the global project finance structuring team to align U.S. transactions with internal standards and regional best practices
* Support origination by reviewing opportunities sourced by coverage teams and engaging directly with sponsors on active transactions
* Manage an assigned portfolio of project finance assets, including financial monitoring, covenant compliance, and ongoing credit reviews
* Participate in site visits and due diligence for active transactions, including domestic travel within the U.S.
* Stay actively engaged in the project finance market, maintaining awareness of live transactions, market terms, and sector trends
Candidate Profile
* Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related discipline
* 5+ years of experience in project finance, infrastructure finance, or structured lending
* Strong technical skill set with the ability to independently build and analyze complex project finance models
* Hands on experience evaluating and executing non recourse or limited recourse transactions
* Experience at global, regional, or peer project finance banks such as Japanese banks, European banks, or Asian banks active in project finance
* Background at arranger level or joint lead / active participant institutions preferred, but participant bank experience is acceptable for the right candidate
* Demonstrated accountability and ownership mentality, with the ability to run transactions end to end in a lean team environment
* Self starter with the confidence to operate independently while leveraging global resources when needed
* Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
* Comfort working across time zones with Asia based teams
