Vice President, Consultant Relations
Vice President, Consultant Relations
Global Institutional Asset Manager | New York, NY (Hybrid: 3 days in office, 2 remote)
Firm Overview
A leading global institutional asset manager with deep roots in infrastructure and private markets, backed by long‑tenured institutional ownership and a mandate focused on delivering long‑term, sustainable investment outcomes for clients and beneficiaries.
For more than 15 years, the firm's strategies have been consistently underwritten by top global and U.S. national consultants, alongside the largest alternative asset managers. As institutional portfolios evolve, the firm is expanding beyond a single‑flagship offering to meet growing demand for infrastructure exposure across a range of risk‑return profiles, supported by an increasingly diversified product platform.
Position Overview
The firm is seeking a Vice President, Consultant Relations to support the continued build‑out of its North American consultant relations platform. This role represents a strategic investment in deep, relationship‑driven consultant coverage, evolving beyond research‑only engagement toward a more holistic, multi‑channel model.
The role will be based in New York, the firm's most critical consultant coverage in the U.S. The position reports into the growing Consultant Relations team and works closely with senior consultant‑facing leadership recruited as part of the platform's recent expansion.
This is a senior individual contributor role, not a sales position. The firm maintains a substantial U.S. sales organization; this hire is designed to complement, not replicate, sales coverage through strategic consultant engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a primary relationship owner for Boston‑based and East Coast global and national consulting firms, engaging across research, OCIO, field consulting, and senior leadership.
- Represent the firm's infrastructure and alternatives platform, articulating portfolio construction relevance across differing client risk profiles.
- Build and execute firm‑specific consultant engagement strategies aligned with consultant research calendars and capital allocation priorities.
- Navigate complex consultant organizations with sophistication, understanding influence networks, decision processes, and long‑term relationship dynamics.
- Partner closely with North American sales teams, global consultant relations colleagues, and investment professionals to drive coordinated outcomes.
- Lead and coordinate consultant meetings, due diligence sessions, teach‑ins, and follow‑up activity across the product suite.
- Capture and synthesize consultant feedback, market trends, and competitive intelligence for internal stakeholders.
- Ensure consistently high standards of accuracy, professionalism, and regulatory compliance across all consultant‑facing activity.
Qualifications
Non‑negotiable criteria
- Proven track record in consultant‑facing roles within asset management, alternatives, or closely related fields.
- New York‑based, with direct experience or strong familiarity covering Boston, MA or Atlanta, GA markets.
- Demonstrated understanding of the consultant ecosystem, typically developed over 6-12 years of relevant experience.
- Background in alternatives, with infrastructure experience strongly preferred; private debt or broader private markets experience is advantageous.
- Commercially credible, relationship‑driven, and capable of operating independently as the sole Consultant Relations presence locally.
Additional attributes
- Strong technical fluency paired with polished communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to establish credibility quickly and earn trust with senior consultant stakeholders.
- Comfortable holding a Vice President title with scope to grow, rather than stepping immediately into a Director‑level role.
Compensation and Benefits
- Base Salary: $230,000 - $280,000
- Target Incentive: ~30%
- Eligibility for discretionary participation in retained revenue and special incentive programs (invite‑only), which may include a mix of cash and referral‑based awards
- Comprehensive benefits package consistent with a senior leadership role at a global institutional asset manager
