About the Opportunity
Our client, a rapidly growing specialty insurance organization, is seeking a Vice President, E&S Property Underwriting to join their expanding team. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced E&S Property underwriting leader who is interested in helping shape underwriting strategy, drive profitable growth, and play a key role in the continued expansion of a well-capitalized platform.
This position offers the flexibility to work remotely while partnering closely with senior leadership, distribution partners, and underwriting teams across the country.
Key Responsibilities
- Underwrite and manage a portfolio of E&S Property business with a focus on profitability and growth.
- Develop and execute underwriting strategy across targeted property classes and territories.
- Evaluate complex risks, establish pricing strategies, and maintain underwriting discipline.
- Build and strengthen relationships with wholesale brokers and distribution partners throughout California and other key markets.
- Collaborate with executive leadership on production, portfolio management, and business planning initiatives.
- Monitor portfolio performance and identify opportunities for growth, product enhancement, and market expansion.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to underwriting team members as the organization continues to scale.
- Assist with authority management, underwriting guidelines, and best practices development.
- Stay current on market conditions, competitor activity, and emerging property exposures.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of commercial property underwriting experience, with significant experience in the E&S marketplace.
- Proven track record underwriting middle market and large property risks.
- Experience handling CAT-exposed and complex property accounts is highly preferred.
- Existing wholesale broker relationships within California and/or the Western U.S. market.
- Strong knowledge of pricing, coverage analysis, risk selection, and portfolio management.
- Leadership experience managing teams, mentoring underwriters, or driving strategic initiatives preferred.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
