Lloyd's Risk Manager
Selby Jennings have partnered with a leading specialty (re)insurance business, currently seeking a Lloyd's Risk Manager to join their growing Risk Management team.
This is a strategic opportunity for an experienced risk professional to act as the primary risk contact for Lloyd's syndicate operations and related stakeholders. The successful candidate will lead risk initiatives across a diverse portfolio, including specialty insurance and reinsurance lines such as Aviation, Energy, Marine, Property, Terror & Political Violence, and Contingency. They will drive the development and refinement of the Lloyd's Risk Framework, oversee quarterly risk reviews, and deliver syndicate-level insights to support underwriting and governance.
You'll ensure risk appetites are effectively monitored and embedded, lead the implementation of syndicate risk governance processes, and develop performance monitoring frameworks for key risk indicators. You'll collaborate with underwriting, exposure management, capital, and compliance teams to align risk strategies with broader business objectives, and contribute to strategic projects including ESG, emerging risks, and regulatory engagement.
The role offers high visibility across European branches and senior leadership, with responsibility for managing and mentoring junior team members and shaping risk methodology and governance.
Role Requirements:
- University degree in Mathematics, Science, Economics, or related discipline; advanced qualifications preferred.
- Minimum 7 years' experience in Insurance Risk Management (including Lloyd's market exposure).
- Strong understanding of enterprise risk frameworks and regulatory requirements (PRA/FCA, Lloyd's).
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and ability to communicate complex risk concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Proven experience managing risk frameworks, governance processes, and reporting to Boards and Committees.
- Technical proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and PowerBI; familiarity with GRC systems is a plus.
- Strong critical thinking and ability to challenge data and assumptions effectively.
